INDIANAPOLIS – State Senator Eddie Melton (D-Merrillville) was appointed to the Indiana Democratic Party State Central Committee on Saturday. Senator Melton will serve as a Deputy Chair, filling a vacancy on the Committee, and is looking forward to engaging new volunteers and welcoming more Hoosiers into the Party. “I’m excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work,” said Melton. “Across our state, in small towns and As Deputy Chair, Melton will work with local-level and grassroots organizations to recruit new volunteers and candidates and help Hoosier Democrats broadcast our message of fighting for fairness, working families and the future. Indiana Democratic Party John Zody was excited for Melton to join the Central Committee. “There’s no question Senator Melton is a rising star in our Party and someone who has proven to be an effective communicator in just one session at the Statehouse,” said Zody. “As a Deputy Chair, I have no doubt Eddie will help build new bridges into our Party.” The Indiana Democratic Party State Central Committee is made up of 44 elected and appointed members who guide Indiana Democratic Party decision-making. State Senator Eddie Melton was elected to the Indiana General Assembly in 2016 and is the Ranking Minority Member on the Senate Committee on Education and Career Development. ### |
