Zody statement on special session

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement after Statehouse Republican leadership detailed their plans to suspend the Indiana Constitution and hold a controversial one-day session.

“Statehouse Republicans think the rules don’t apply to them. They’ll steamroll the Indiana Constitution and twist the legislative process to serve special interests while billing it all to Hoosier taxpayers. Their incompetent management put taxpayers on the hook for a $30,0000/day special session for special interests, and now they’re doubling down and ripping up the rule book. Hoosiers deserve leaders that are transparent and admit when they make a mistake. With no public comment planned for legislation that will be heard, Republicans might as well be holding their $30,000/day special session for special interests behind closed doors. Worse, it seems Republicans can’t even get on the same page, with the governor and leadership sending conflicting messages.”
