How to Vote

Obtain a Free Photo ID

For many people, a valid driver’s license will work as a form of identification when voting. However, if you do not possess an ID that is acceptable for voting purposes, Public Law 109-2005 requires the BMV to issue an Indiana State ID Card for FREE.

Let us know if you need assistance obtaining valid identification.

NOTE: Indiana closes voter registration 29 days prior to the next election.

Request an Absentee Ballot

If you will be absent from the county on Election Day, have a disability, or are over 65 years of age, you can request an absentee ballot.

Finding Polling Location

Vanderburgh County uses “vote centers”, meaning that residents can vote at any polling place within the county. You can choose the one that is most convenient for you.
